Poison Ivy Breakout. This rash is a form of allergic contact dermatitis. Poison ivy rash is caused by contact with poison ivy, a plant that grows almost everywhere in the United States.
Urushiol oil in poison sumac, poison oak, and poison ivy may produce a severe skin rash. It most commonly occurs due to bacterial,viral or fungal infection. Poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac together produce more cases of allergic contact dermatitis than all other allergens combined.
Brushing against a poison ivy plant can cause a red, itchy rash with swelling, bumps and blisters.
When you get around to dragging your itchy, oozing self to the pharmacy, be warned: you will be overwhelmed by all of the anti-itch.
This last month, I had two little boys in the office, one right after the other, with poison oak. A poison ivy rash can be difficult to get rid of, and it might also spread to other parts of your body if you don't manage to get its resin off you soon.
